The audiovisual media company, part of the Media Capital group, has operated in the Iberian market since its inauguration in 2001, being responsible for maintaining the group's equipment, renting equipment for national and international markets, and helping with the production of various programs of national entertainment and sports.
Recently, due to operations and logistical changes in its means, EMAV informed Pantalha of the need to convert an outdoor car into a temporary régie in its facilities, where despite being able to reuse various pieces of equipment, there was a need to replace some others that were reaching the end of life - such as the existing multiviewers solution.
After several meetings to better understand the requirements and needs, Pantalha decided that the most advantageous solution for the customer would be an Ultrix video matrix, whose Multiviewers are integrated within the matrix itself - allowing the customer to take advantage of all matrix inputs and outputs can be available multiple times on each multiviewer head, thus saving rack space, energy consumption, cabling, and management and operation of multiple devices. In a single 2RU frame, EMAV has 64x64 signals available, with 6x integrated multiviewer heads that it distributes to the various directing, image control, audio, and production control rooms. Taking advantage of Ultrix's integrated functionalities, EMAV also went ahead with the acquisition of an SFP MADI, which allows the transmission and reception of 64 channels of MADI audio to embed and unembed in the matrix itself - which once again allows for space savings, equipment, cabling, and operation. Integration with the current audio console has been greatly simplified, all audio coming out of the matrix sources can be sent to the console, and the final mixes and auxiliary signals from the console return to the matrix to be embedded from the respective matrix sources or destinations.
In addition to this solution, there was also the need to replace the intercom equipment, mainly the matrix and the control panels - with the condition that the chosen solution would have to easily integrate with all the analog intercom solutions that were already present in the rest of the installations, namely wireless belt pack solutions. The challenge would also be to integrate with the multiple intercom points throughout EMAV's infrastructure, and not just for the new temporary control unit.
Pantalha, in partnership with RTS, quickly came to the fore with the ideal solution for these requirements - the RTS ODIN matrix. With a frame size of just 1RU, ODIN can route up to 128 intercom channels, with a maximum of 16 4-wire analog channels. In this way, ODIN is the ideal solution to integrate analog equipment, even from other manufacturers, and mix it with digital RTS solutions - namely the KP-4016 RTS panels.
However, EMAV, due to the large number of intercoms they have, needed the integration of 24 4-wire analog channels. ODIN, once again, proved to be the ideal solution for its ability to interconnect several ODIN units transparently. Therefore, Pantalha offered a 2x frames 1RU solution, allowing the customer to integrate their existing 24 analog intercom channels with the digital RTS panels as a single intercom matrix, with all input signals available at all destinations on both equipments.
